In the days after flash floods killed more than 200 people in Valencia last year, volunteers and students sifted through the wreckage for photos belonging to families who had survived the disaster to see what could be saved

To quote from The Guardian, "In the days after flash floods killed more than 200 people in Valencia last year, volunteers and students sifted through the wreckage for photos belonging to families who had survived the disaster to see what could be saved."

As it happened, I had been in Spain about a week before this devastating deluge. And, like the person whose photo was salvaged above, I was taking photos of wind turbines. I've stopped along many's the road to admire their beauty and elegance. Only the wind blew.

We, like those in Valencia and its surrounds, just don't know what's going to come at us out of the blue. I hope that both the photographer and the subject - the person whose silhouette is visible in the water-damaged photo - are safe.
